Vedior North America Celebrates National Staffing Employee Week
Wakefield, MA, 09.18.06 - Vedior North America is joining staffing agencies across the nation in celebrating National Staffing Employee Week, this September 18-24. Established by the American Staffing Association (ASA), National Staffing Employee Week pays tribute to the 2.9 million Americans who are employed by staffing firms every day.
No longer just a way to fill clerical jobs in the short term, temporary staffing has expanded to include seasoned professionals across multiple disciplines including healthcare, information technology, finance and many others. Individuals looking to acquire and hone particular skills can turn to temporary staffing as a way to gain a competitive edge, translating into more challenging and rewarding jobs and premium salaries.
"Temporary workers play a significant role in the labor market, helping organizations quickly and effectively meet their resource needs," said Gregory Netland, CEO, Vedior North America. "National Staffing Employee Week celebrates the efforts of these skilled workers and provides an opportunity to thank them for their meaningful contribution to the American economy."
For those who are seeking their first job, re-entering the work force or looking for something new, temporary and contract employment offers many advantages including:
- Jobs: The staffing industry matches millions of people to millions of jobs every day.
- Flexibility: Employees can choose when, where and how they want to work. Eighty-one percent of companies cite labor force flexibility as the overriding reason for employing temporary and contract workers.
- Bridge: Temporary work provides a bridge to permanent employment. Seventy-two percent of temporary employees obtain permanent jobs while working for a staffing company.
- Benefits: Temporary employees have access to a competitive suite of benefits via staffing agencies. For example, Vedior North America offers its workers a full benefits package including health, dental, vision and life insurance, as well as mental health counseling and inclusion in a 401(k) program.
- Training: The staffing industry provides training for millions of temporary and contract employees to help meet today's demand for skilled workers.
"While any industry has fluctuations in supply and demand, there will always be a desire for highly skilled, qualified workers," adds Netland. "Contract and temporary employees are a large part of this equation and we're proud to be involved in an industry that fulfills this need."
